About Empowering Physio
Kelsey and Bethany started their own physiotherapy business in 2023. After studying and working in Bendigo for almost a decade, they decided to return to their hometown of Kyabram to provide physiotherapy services to their local community.

Get to know
Kelsey
Kelsey is a local, having grown up in Ky and has recently moved back after studying and working in Bendigo as a physiotherapist for 10 years.
Kelsey graduated from Master of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University in 2013 and has since developed a vast array of experience. Throughout her career to date Kelsey has been a sports trainer and physiotherapist for various football clubs including Bendigo Pioneers, Lockington, Sandhurst and now most recently for Lancaster Football Netball Club. Kelsey has gained a wide range of knowledge and experience working in both hospital and outpatient settings for 7 years and private practice for just over 1 year. She has worked in many areas which include the emergency department, neurological, rehabilitation and orthopaedic wards and with outpatient musculoskeletal and sporting injuries including hand and wrist injuries.
Currently Kelsey is exploring the impact our footwear and sedentary lifestyle habits have on lower limb injuries. Over the past year she has changed her own lifestyle habits to increasing the amount of time spent sitting in different positions on the floor and walking around in either minimalist shoes or barefoot.

Bethany
Bethany grew up in Kyabram and from the age of 12 she knew she wanted to be a physio because she had a passion for easing someone’s pain through giving a massage. Multiple practice massages on her family members and seeing the impact she could make, lead Bethany to studying Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University Bendigo. Since her graduation in 2016, Bethany has worked in hospitals at Echuca and Bendigo where she has developed an array of knowledge and experience including:
·neurological rehab e.g. stroke rehab, falls and balance
·acute management of injuries within the emergency department e.g. fractures, dislocations, sprains
·rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgeries e.g. total knee/hip replacement, ACL repair, shoulder reconstruction
·cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation
At present, Bethany is a sports trainer at Lancaster Football Netball Club. Outside of this role, she is currently increasing her knowledge on the importance of breathing and the impact dysfunctional breathing has on injuries and rehabilitation.

Other:
In her spare time, Bethany enjoys dabbling in an array of sports like netball, squash and horse-riding. If she’s not seen playing a game of sport, you’ll likely find her exploring the countryside, walking her dogs or reading a good book. Currently Bethany is studying canine massage and rehabilitation, and alongside her sister Kelsey, they are both expanding their skills and knowledge onto our furry, four-legged friends in the near future.
